     11. The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, An epic exploration of the ties that bind sons to fathers and boyhood friends to one another– and of the forces that tear them apart.  This is the story about a young boy whos father is a powerful politicial in Afghanistan.  The boy grows up thinking that his best friend is only the son of the servant but he learns the truth  as a young adult upon the death of his father.  The book and movie both describe events in terms of islamic law which may not necessarily represent Islam correctly, but the book is still a powerful and moving account of life in Afghanistan.  Highly recommended.

  4. In any subject, be it science, religion or general knowledge, always look for sources. When you hear something, or you read an article, look where they took their information from. Is this information rare and from only one or two sources? Or can you find many books, articles, journals, scholars saying similar things?
When it comes to islamic education always look and ask for “daleel” which means source or support, basis for the saying. If for example a hadith has only one narration who’s chain of people relaying is is weak, and there is nothing to back it up from the Quran, then that would be a very weak source. But if there is a hadith which is narrated by several sahaba and collected by different scholors like Bukhari, Muslim, Tirmidhi etc, and even more so when it follows an aya in the Quran then you know it is a good source and reliable. Inshallah,, Allah knows best.
